LOVE STORY:
James and Mandy don’t remember meeting. Probably because they have known each other their whole lives! James and Mandy were both raised on farms in a rural area. Their family farms almost bordered each other. James’ family had a dairy and Mandy’s family grew potatoes and barley.
The elementary through high school years were spent in the same schools, and even though Mandy was a year older in school, Mandy and James were always part of the same group of friends. In the high school years, their friendship grew and they found themselves dating. They went to every school dance. Mandy played volleyball, softball, and basketball in high school. She also worked at a local diner as a cook and waitress. James spent his time playing football and working on the family dairy.
In 2002, James and Mandy had a beautiful summer wedding in Mandy’s parents’ backyard. A year later, they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. Both were amazing occasions. Since their marriage, they have moved around a lot, changed jobs, and finally settled in a 3 bedroom home on two acres.
EXTENDED FAMILY:
James and Mandy enjoy having both of their extended families including parents, siblings, nieces and nephews, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins nearby. Large family functions aren’t just something saved for holidays. Any occasion can, and will, be made into a family party.
James has awesome parents, four younger brothers, and an older sister. James and Mandy have two cute nieces on this side of the family. Family time is awesome and James and Mandy enjoy doing things with their family. James’ family loves sports (especially football and baseball), camping, hunting, outdoor cooking, games, and just hanging out. As a group, James and his family make an awesome softball team. Everyone can throw, catch, and hit. They are very competitive and could beat most families that want to challenge them.
Mandy has two brothers (one older and one younger), and an animal loving mom. Her amazing dad passed away from a brain tumor and is truly missed. Mandy and James enjoy spending time with, and spoiling, their two nephews and two nieces on this side of the family. Mandy’s family enjoys playing softball, playing card games, going to rodeos, fishing, hunting, and boating together.
WORK:
James drives truck and heavy machinery for a local construction company. He loves his job and his time spent in his “life sized Tonka toys.” He also has a background in electrical work, farming, welding, and building. Mandy considers James a “Jack of all trades.” He can build or fix just about anything.
Mandy teaches 7th through 9th grade P.E. and Weightlifting. She also coaches volleyball, softball, and basketball. She is certified and has experience teaching Math and Health as well. She looks forward to summers off and vacations to spend with her future children. James claims that "Mandy looks forward to school closures and summer breaks as much as her students. She always has a count down." During the school year, Mandy and James know that their future children will be well loved, and taken care of, by grandmas and an aunt who all look forward to babysitting. Mandy loves her job, but is willing to work less or not at all if necessary.
CHURCH:
James and Mandy are active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. James has a calling as a scout leader. He loves camping with the scouts and teaching them outdoor skills. Mandy has a calling teaching in the primary and a calling as a girl’s camp leader. She enjoys both of her callings.
